Welcome to Apple VAlley JO Boys Volleyball!

VAA is excited to be able to bring all boy's volleyball to Apple Valley.  Boy's volleyball participation has been steadily growing in Minnesota over the last several years and it got a large push after the formation of the MN Boys High School Volleyball Association in 2017.  In December 2022, the MSHSL Board of Directors voted to fully sanction Boys Volleyball as an official sport for the 2024-2025 school year.  In the interim, Boys High School Volleyball will still be offered as a "club" while they continue the process of integrating into the school system.  Apple Valley is now represented in the South Conference besides other local clubs/schools being represented including Burnsville, Eagan, Eastview, Farmington, Lakeville North, Lakeview South, Prior Lake, Rosemount, and Shakopee. 

Apple Valley JO Volleyball (AVJO) is our club name that is under the VAA Traveling Volleyball blanket that will be the home for Boys Volleyball.  AVJO currently runs competitive Girls Fall Traveling teams and Girls Winter Club teams for those in 3rd-10th grades.  With the addition of Boys Volleyball, we hope to be able to expand our competitive offerings for younger boys in the future.

AVJO will field two High School teams (Varsity and Junior Varsity) for the 2024 Spring season with games that start in mid-April.  Tryouts to form teams will be held on March 9th and will be open for all boys in 7th-12th grade that are or will be going to AVHS.  We have scheduled a few open gym sessions in the next few weeks ( late February-early March) to give the boys a chance to see if they would be interested and if volleyball would be right for them.  Once the season begins players can expect to practice 1-2 days a week along with 1-2 games.

As a recognized sport of the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL), all participants are required to have a current (within 3 years) physical on file with the district to participate for the season and in tryouts.  Please use the link below for more information and to download the form.

Opens gym sessions will be open to all boys in grades 7th-12th inside the Apple Valley High School boundaries.  Come to one, come to all of them!  Please dress with gym attire and have dedicated inside gym shoes not worn outside.

District 196 is requiring all player to register through MyPaymentsPlus and to pay a sport participation fee.  This fee does not cover any of the operating cost of the season.  The costs are paid by VAA and will require a separate registration and payment.

Season participation fee is $275.
